Thank you for the great advice! I ordered my Wii just now and your instructions were perfect. I had my doubts about going through the process not knowing the language, but I’m glad I did. I’ve been searching for a Wii for weeks now!
November 5th, 2007 at 8:44 am
yay! i was really starting to get worried about being able to find a Wii for my little boy, or that i’d have to pay £100+ over the odds (like some of the ripoff merchants are charging, on ebay and other sites). but even i, a dumb blond lol, managed to place my order.
thanks again! xxx

Just ordered Wii from Germany so fingers crossed all ok. Bit nervous incase it doesn’t work etc what do I do then?!!!! One point for those about to do the same - the german site doesn’t offer Maestro as a payment option. Had an e mail reply confirming order (I think - as ofcourse it’s in German!)
November 5th, 2007 at 10:23 am
Yeah! Big thanks - just ordered mine (hope it works!!!!) So nice to stop searching and searching……
November 5th, 2007 at 10:30 am
I prefer a UK version with UK power supply. Buying from eBay may be more expensive but I get the UK version and know there wont be any “problems” with my insurance if my house caught fire due to a faulty power supply.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:31 am
Molly, good point, I’ll update the listing. UK orders can only be placed using a Credit Card (Visa, Mastercard).
Thomas, Kate, Molly, Ellie - great to hear you managed to place your order. A weight off your mind, eh?
November 5th, 2007 at 10:35 am
Just ordered mine, seemed really easy (hope it works). Nice to be able to stop looking now.
November 5th, 2007 at 10:37 am

Just ordered. Phew! But thanks so much for step-by-step advice - wouldn’t have attempted it otherwise. Just wait for it to safely arrive 19-23 Nov and Christmas will be in the bag!

Wow it’s great to see so many people using the guide!
Richard, thanks also for posting the email. Just in case anyone wonders, this is what the first section says:
“Thank you for your order. We send you shortly a confirmation by E-Mail. Please you consider: If you ordered several articles to the same address, get them possibly in several transmissions dispatched, because we want to offer the fastest possible service to you. Of course without additional forwarding expenses for it!”
According to babelfish translation at least!
November 5th, 2007 at 2:22 pm
I have followed the advice and things seem to be flowing. It’s a pity that the UK market always suffers so much from shortages in the run up to Xmas and you can purchase relatively freely from europe. I checked just now and the Amazon France site had 9 in stock. In case you get stuck in any translation issues try this link:- http://www.dictionary.com/translate/

Hi there
Just wanted to say I ordered 1 from amazon Germany last Monday and it arrived on Thursday, everything works with no problems and just needed a shaver plug adaptor to get it working everything in english and simple plug and play, go for it.

I orded one this morning at about 9:00. Everything seemed to go through OK and i got the same dispatch dates as other people have received.
Thanks for the guide Peter, it was very helpful. Maybe you should setup a Amazon wishlist for Christmas and put it on the site. Some greatful people might show their thanks and buy you a book or dvd when their Wii turns up
Im getting one to play Super Mario Galaxy, i left it a bit late to pick one up before the Christmas rush. I really didnt expect it to be as hard to find this Christmas.

just to let you know i have just placed an order at 5pm and they are still available for delivery on the 19th november. thank-you so much, my children had almost resigned themselves to not actually getting one for christmas but they almost believe in santa again now! i had seen your blog before but without the guide and had become stuck, but not this time so thanks again!!!!
November 5th, 2007 at 4:54 pm
I ordered mine yesterday at about midday. The delivery estimate is between 28th november and 20th december. This seems too long as a lot of other people who ordered today have shorter delivery estimates.
November 5th, 2007 at 6:27 pm
Just ordered mine today many thanks for the advice.
November 5th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
Thanks,
I think another successfull order, would be nice to see Amazon get the hint and sell them at the retail price here too!
November 5th, 2007 at 7:14 pm
Well gave it a go fingers crossed !!
November 5th, 2007 at 7:45 pm
have just successfully placed my order for a Wii thanks to your brilliant instructions. You have been a great “Santa’s little helper”!
Many, many thanks
November 5th, 2007 at 7:55 pm
I’ve got every confidence, many thanks for your help. Now spread the word and stop people being ripped off at christmas!
November 5th, 2007 at 8:41 pm
Another order placed thanks to your great instructions. Had given up hope of finding one before Xmas !!
Thanks again.
November 5th, 2007 at 9:17 pm
Just ordered a Wii for my sister in laws little boy as she has been trying to get one for ages, fingers crossed it will arrive week beginning 19th November. Found your instructions easy to follow, but to join amazon first then go ahead and order !
November 5th, 2007 at 9:30 pm
Just ordered following your instructions, expecting delivery next week, sure it’s ok, my german is poor but I understand enough, anyway for the doubters out there Credit Card p
November 5th, 2007 at 9:33 pm
Just ordered following your instructions, sure it’s ok, my German is weak but understand enough to know that my Credit Card payment is secure, Amazon is an international company and quite safe. Look forward to receiving my Wii next week.
Great idea!
November 5th, 2007 at 10:56 pm
It was a doddle!, must admit I used my lexibook translater a few times but the instructions are spot on. the brother in law is paying £280….fool
November 5th, 2007 at 11:13 pm
if you are a amazon member you details will automatically come up and it straight forward after that
November 5th, 2007 at 11:21 pm
Just placed my order after almost giving up hope for Christmas Present. Delivery expected 19-23 November. Thanks for help - There is a Santa!!
November 6th, 2007 at 6:08 am
Just placed my order - delivery is showing as 29th Nov - 23 Dec (Included an extra controller on order) So I’m not sure if that has delayed - however very simple and I’ve forwarded instruction to a friend who has also been looking. Thanks for your help!
November 6th, 2007 at 7:26 am
Keith, I can only think that your extra controller delayed things a bit because everyone else is still reporting delivery in a few weeks. However it’s great that it’s still before Christmas!
Just updated the top of the page - 128 Wiis ordered by my reckoning! You’d think Amazon UK would just ship a few thousand over, but hey, at least there’s a way of getting hold of one.
November 6th, 2007 at 9:11 am
Well done Peter, I was like many others, fooled into thinking that this year things might be different in the supply and demand lottery, and had resigned myself to having to risk e-bay and not have money left to eat at Christmas.
Frohe Weihnachten!
November 6th, 2007 at 10:14 am
[…] If anyone’s interested, here’s an instruction guide to ordering a Wii from Amazon Germany: http://www.instockwii.co.uk/2007/11/…ock-at-amazon/ […]
November 6th, 2007 at 10:16 am
Another order placed thanks to your comprehensive instructions. I had given up hope of finding one before Xmas, deliver quoted 19 November 2007 - 23 November 2007.
Thanks again.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:46 am
Simon above mentions ordering from Amazon France. Does France not have SECAM format rather than PAL or NTSC which are the formats compatible in the UK.
Does anyone know of a French Wii will work with UK TV/Screens?
Taz
November 6th, 2007 at 11:22 am
Brilliant! Thanks for the website!
Only trouble was that I have no idea if it said that there were any in stock, as it’s in German, but as everyone is writing saying they have a delivery date, I took the plunge!! Heres hoping!
Does anyone know if there will be issues with games, or are european games all one region??
November 6th, 2007 at 11:34 am
Thanks for the helpful instructions - very refreshing after looking at all those greedy b******s on ebay!!
November 6th, 2007 at 11:34 am
Thank you so much, my neighbour has just popped in to tell me about your site, have ordered one so fingers crossed! Delivery expected 19-23 November. When it arrives I owe you a beer!
November 6th, 2007 at 1:17 pm
Ordered ours the other day from Germany, got a delivery date for the end of the week and tracking on the German site shows it has been dispatched and is at a port waiting to be taken across the channel! Can’t wait, its a shame UK retailers feel the need to rip off the British public!
November 6th, 2007 at 1:33 pm
Ours arrived this am- we ordered 5 days ago through the Geman Amazon site, very straight forward and less than the RRP in this country! we began our search at the start of last month to no avail- we can now relax knowing its safely stashed away for xmas.
November 6th, 2007 at 3:55 pm
Ordered mine yesterday morning after my husband found a link to your site.Already registered on amazon so process really easy. Thought kids were going to be disappointed this christmas but hopefully now they will be thrilled and i won’t have had to pay e-bay prices.
Buy you a drink when it arrives!
Thanks very much for you help
November 6th, 2007 at 4:53 pm
Question regarding the info on this site - can you just cut the European power plug off and put a UK 3 pin plug on?
November 6th, 2007 at 5:14 pm
Taz, I haven’t been able to find a comprehensive answer to whather the French version is compatible or not … but I know that the German one definitely is so I’d play it safe!
Ben, I am pretty sure the little widget I have above will change if they run out of stock. But it seems that they have plenty so go for it! No issues with playing UK games at all - and the Wii Sports in the package is in English too.
Joe, exactly!! It was after looking on eBay and other sites with inflated prices that made me make this site. I hate rip off merchants!
@Mark, I have read that you can do that, yes. But the advice I saw also said that they’d recommend getting an electrician to do it for you. Not sure if they were being cautious but yes, it seems to be an option!
Reading these comments puts a grin on my face - keep spreading the word
November 6th, 2007 at 5:16 pm
Oh, also I meant to say thanks to Stephen from Worcestershire who bought me a beer! I’ll cheers you when I drink it
November 6th, 2007 at 5:59 pm
Hi Peter,
What is stopping anyone from ordering a number of Wii’s using this method and then selling on e-bay.
Why arent you doing something like this?
Its a shame that it cant be prevented.
November 6th, 2007 at 6:40 pm
Taz, I guess there is nothing to stop people doing that … except removing the demand by letting people know about this method! If no one buys them at £270+ on eBay, people who tried that ’scam’ will be out of luck!
I’m really hoping that these stocks don’t dry up so less people are ripped off.
And I’m not doing it because … well … I just wouldn’t!
November 6th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
My order, 5/11 18:51, said it would be dispatched 14 November 2007 - 19 November 2007.
I received an email today saying it has been completed and dispatched via Deutsche Post Paket, 9 days ahead of estimate. I should receive it by 12 November.
If it’s on time I only have to wait 4 days till the 16th for Super Mario Galaxy.
I hope I don’t wake my daughter will testing the console

Someone has posted on avforums that the French Wii (or Oui

I’ve just received the same email, order shipped ahead of schedule. Good old German efficiency!!! Will be here next week.
With regards to the question of removing the plug, if I remember correctly German electrical leads do not contain an earth wire, if you cut it off would it invalidate your warranty? Can you replace the entire lead or is it hard wired in?
Peter, it looks like you could be having a very merry Christmas, I reckon you’ll have a few beers to get through!!!
November 6th, 2007 at 10:33 pm
This is just fab. thanks so much for the easy instructions. cant believe we have been able to buy a wii. I had given up all hope. Cant wait to see my childrens faces on christmas day. Dispatch between 27th November and 11th December. just popping out to buy my euro plug converter. Once again thanks for sharing the information.
November 6th, 2007 at 10:54 pm
Hey, just placed my order and hope this works… I thought my luck had run out cos I preordered games and accessories only to find out the actual console was out of stock. and now hopefully I have one with the next two weeks This was great advice and I actually worked for amazon.com a few years back and truly r a great company to deal with and yes I was in complaints dept and we lost r jobs at xmas because there was no work so really that says it all.
all the best caroline
November 6th, 2007 at 10:55 pm
o anyone know wat adapter i need for it and where i can get one ?? cheers
November 6th, 2007 at 11:21 pm
Ordered my Wii 1st Nov, arrived 5th Nov.
All’s good, simple to buy a plug adaptor, then away you go!!
I’m sorry Peter I won’t be pledging you a beer (especially at £4 a pint!!!!), as I used another site that came up with this method back in February!!!!!
Perhaps you should be buying him/her the beers!!!!
November 6th, 2007 at 11:24 pm
Big big thanks for the link, just placed my order with easy instructions.I was worried I would have no wii and lots of pre-ordered games. same dispatch as others. Thanks again, looking forward to seeing my three children very happy on xmas morning.
November 7th, 2007 at 7:43 am
Jo, I really wasn’t claiming to have come up with the “method”, nor that this is the only site with a guide (though I think it was the first?!). But I’m glad that other people are also helping Brits find those elusive Wiis for Xmas.
Everyone else, great to hear your success stories - keep them up!
November 7th, 2007 at 9:18 am
mines coming nov 20th. you can use google translator to explain all parts of the web site just select all copy and paste in the translator and it give the German version and English side by side.
vorsprung dorchtechniq!!!
November 7th, 2007 at 9:40 am
well they still seem to be in stock. Delivery is now between 22 and 26th Nov and still same price so its nice to know our resident scammers haven’t clicked on yet. Thanks for the advice as the stock locator is showing these consoles are in stock for an average of four minutes in uk stores. Best of luck to anyone else ordering via amazon in germany, it really is simple.
November 7th, 2007 at 10:14 am
Just ordered as per your instructions….no problems. Signed in with my UK login; had all my card and address details already there to select… Now awaiting delivery which is due 22-26 Nov.
Thanks Peter!
November 7th, 2007 at 10:34 am
just ordered mine at 8.50 this morning - have been able to order accessories and other games from Argos , Amazon (Uk) & Tesco direct.
Shaver adapter plug at the Argos = £0.61 !!! what a bargain for the adapter we all need. delivery dates quoted (i think) between 22-26 Nov.
Let’s hope they excel themselves & deliver early. Can’t wait to see my daughters face & I’m speading the word to other parents who have been frantically searching like myself. What a relief for that to be over. Now to focus on the rest of the Xmas shopping!!!
November 7th, 2007 at 10:45 am
I have just ordered the Wii from Amazon Germany. Easy process. If you already use the UK version it is exactly the same. Although I have some schoolgirl German( very basic) I didnt really need to translate. Delivery time set for 22nd - 26th November so at last i can relax. Thanks for this site.
Not concerned about using the adaptor as had bought a camera in the US years ago with no problems at all with charging it.
Have bought from the Canadian Amazon site in the past with excellent results so hopefully console will arrive with the usual high standard of service from Amazon.
Happy Christmas y’all!!
November 7th, 2007 at 10:57 am
Wii play + remote
I also wanted a the ‘Wii play + remote’ game to give me two controllers..

With delivery charge from france it was 53 euro, which is £37
November 7th, 2007 at 11:08 am
Ordered Mon,email today to say dispatched ahead of schedule!
November 7th, 2007 at 11:55 am
Peter. I’ve ordered my Wii and have tried to pay with two credit cards, but I keep receiving a message saying that they can’t accept the card and I can’t work out why. I’m sure I’ve filled the details in right. My husband has e-mailed their communication to someone who speaks some german, and he seems to think they say they can’t accept credit cards other than german and austrian. Any ideas? They’ve given me 10 days to sort it out or they said they will cancel the order.

Hi Muz. I’ve now tried ordering from the French Amazon. I’m a bit better with French than German. It also seemed a bit more straightforward. Fingers crossed. Why not give them a go?
November 7th, 2007 at 1:13 pm
I’m waiting for my orders to fail again, then I’ll cancel them and try france
Cheers
November 7th, 2007 at 1:24 pm
Julie & Muz - you’re the first people to say they have had issues, very strange! I’ve read around other sites discussing the order process and haven’t come across the issue. Maybe it was a one time glitch in their system? Glad the French order worked okay though!
November 7th, 2007 at 2:01 pm
the french site is failing on my 3 digit security code on the back of my card!
urgh!
lol
November 7th, 2007 at 2:05 pm
Thank god i found this link! It’s the only thing my youngest wants for christmas and i thought there would be some in the shops! How stupid am i?! Have placed my order and when i received it will def buy you a beer! Don’t care if you started it or not it’s your link that has made my lads christmas wish come true. Would just like to add that if all the t*****s off e-bay weren’t buying them up we all stood a better chance of getting them, not that they give a s**t.
November 7th, 2007 at 2:14 pm
Just to let you know, I’ve had a email (at 2pm) to say it was despatched by German post today only placed the order before noon yesterday, expected to arrive by the 12th! Fantastic! I’ve been looking for ages, had ordered one from studio cards but they haven’t got any stock in yet. Thanks again.
November 7th, 2007 at 2:38 pm
Muz, that really sucks! I’d try again tomorrow maybe on the German site - becuase you and Julie had the same issue at the same time I really wonder if it was a glitch. It looks like the stocks are lasting there so fingers crossed you get one.
Anne, it’s comments like yours (about “it’s all the kids wanted”) that make me grin :D. I don’t have kids but I know how much *I* wanted a Wii, so I can’t imagine how dissapointed a child would be at Xmas if that’s all they wanted.

Delighted, just ordered mine, like so many I was getting worried for Xmas and the ‘Rip Off’ prices on Ebay. Just tracked my order on Amazon.de and expected delivery 22-25/11. I was worried I hadn’t completed germany account details correct but its looking positive.
THAnks so much!!
November 7th, 2007 at 4:01 pm
Many thanks. Beer will be dispathed upon delivery - just in time for Christmas
November 7th, 2007 at 4:57 pm
Well it’s been 3 hours or so since I placed fresh orders and my billing hasn’t failed, everybody cross everything!
November 7th, 2007 at 6:25 pm
Muz, good luck - you might be one of the last to use this guide as it was intended. As you can see from the top of the page, I’ve had to remove links at Amazon’s request.
As I say above, good luck everyone and have a great Christmas!
November 7th, 2007 at 7:48 pm
Just ordered one from germany on existing amazon account - kein problem!
November 7th, 2007 at 10:35 pm
Ordered from German site at 8 pm, confirmation email receiived at 9 pm with despatch date of the 10th and a delivery date 10th-19th November. What can I say other than well done, well worth a beer, thank you
November 8th, 2007 at 3:06 am
I couldn’t understand some parts of this article, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
November 8th, 2007 at 9:40 am
Thought I’d ordered eve of 06/11 but checked account and no order recorded. Just ordered correctly this morning 08/11. My mistake was at the point of checking mailing address. It was correct and didn’t need changing. I assumed I need take no more action as the last step of the instructions was, sit back and await delivery. I had forgotten to hit the button marked Bestellung Abschicken. No problems now hopefully. Very grateful for the information on this site. Our grandparents would turn in their grave if they knew we had to resort to this because of the greed of business in the UK these days. What happened to fair trade.
November 8th, 2007 at 10:59 am
WOW!!!!!!!
I ordered on Monday and have today recieved my Wii from Germany. Not opened or tested yet, but I am impressed. Amazon UK dont deliver that quickly. We really do get a raw deal in the UK!!
I searched high and low, signed up for Argos stock text alerts for several stores and nothing!!
Thanks Peter, beer on its way
November 8th, 2007 at 11:04 am
Peter,
The paypal link above doesnt seem to be working
November 8th, 2007 at 11:45 am
Taz, thanks for letting me know! I changed it to a link, hopefully that works. Maybe that’s why I wasn’t getting as many beers as I thought I would based on commetns above. I want to say that my intention definitely isn’t to make anyone feel obliged to donate anything, your comments are definitely more than worth the effort that went into making the guide and site. But any beer donations are very much appreciated
I’m glad that people are still finding their way to ordering Wiis from this guide despite Amazon being stuffy about me providing a link. Good luck all and you can always drop me an email if you get really stuck: chimaeric@gmail.com
Cheers.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:20 pm
Wow
What a carry on.Ordered my 1st Wii from woolworths about 3 weeks ago.Would you believe it but it got nicked someone even signed for it even though i was in all day.None of our neighours had seen it either.Turns out thay had a ageny courier delivering it but at that time they coudln’t contact him.Funny that, probably at a market somewhere flogging Wii’s.
Anyway got my money back and tried to get a wii elsewhere. No luck so saw your site.Ordered late monday night (5th Nov) came today (8th Nov).
Thanks
November 8th, 2007 at 12:28 pm
Dear All,
I am in the same situation cannot find a Wii, saw this site, looks good, but is it time to take the ”risk” are they totally compatible in the UK. ”Is it panick time yet”…Thanks.
November 8th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Worked for me too, ordered 4/11/07 - came 7/11/7.
No snags found so far, everything defaulted to English.
Thanks very much!!
November 8th, 2007 at 1:00 pm
Paul, I’d say that 90+ Comments with quite a few from people that have actually recieved their Wii, approx 250 orders through this site, and countless comments on other sites and forums would suggest that there are no issues with ordering from Amazon Germany! Sure there are 6+ weeks to Xmas, and maybe the UK stock will come in … but based on previous years where a ‘must have’ item struggles with stock this early, I personally wouldn’t be taking the chance! Depending on who it is for of course - if for you personally then maybe wait until the New Year sales.
November 8th, 2007 at 1:06 pm
Ordered my 3 yesterday! (all for presents, not to flog!!)Thanks for saving my a*se- I was supposed to have bought them in September, but thought leaving it another month wouldn’t hurt! STUPID GIRL!!
I say this to many, but don’t always mean it… Peter, I really truly hope you have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS!! Top Man!!x
November 8th, 2007 at 1:07 pm
Just ordered the console from Amazon.de with ‘wii play’ as this appears to be sold out elsewhere as well. Email conformation has said an expected dispatch date of 29th Nov - 13 Dec. Perhaps the German stocks are starting to dry up as well?
November 8th, 2007 at 1:11 pm
Mike, I get the impression that it might be the Wii Play that has delayed your order a bit. Others who have had longer delivery periods have tended to be the ones adding extras like a controller etc.
But hopefully it’s still in plenty of time for Christmas.
Jen, thanks for the good wishes!
November 8th, 2007 at 1:36 pm
Peter,
Thanks for that, just spent a bit of time with translating the German site using altavista (http://world.altavista.com/tr) and changed the delivery options to send separately. The wii is now showing 12 - 20th Nov for dispatch with the ‘wii play’ for early Decemeber.
Regards, Mike.
November 8th, 2007 at 1:47 pm
Ordered Mon night, received this morning.
Thanks SO much
November 8th, 2007 at 1:58 pm
Ordered on Monday, delivered today!
Superb!
Thanks!
November 8th, 2007 at 3:32 pm
Peter,
I do agree with what you are saying and its maybe time to get onto the German site. Its for my 2 boys (and me as well) but they don’t know yet. I will let you know how it goes. My only concern would be if its faulty. Thanks,
November 8th, 2007 at 4:06 pm
Peter. Having successfully ordered my Wii from the French Amazon, my husband has also ordered successfully from Germany. Looks like we’ve got two on the Way!! Muz. Hope you’ve sorted out the problem!
November 8th, 2007 at 5:02 pm
i ordered a wii from amazon de for £176.00 including postage it was ordered on monday 5th pm and it arrived with me in the uk this afternoon it works fine and all i had to do was buy an adapter from a local hardware shop for £2.50 so i give a big “two finger salute” to the idiots on ebay charging silly prices!!! thanks i could kiss you for this blog xxxxxx
November 8th, 2007 at 6:11 pm
Thanks Julie, my orer came through and hasn’t been rejected due to expiry date yet, I’ll see what happens
November 8th, 2007 at 6:23 pm
Hi, I got my boyfriend a wii off Amazon Germany… ordered it Monday night, arrived today.

November 8th, 2007 at 6:51 pm
Just wanted to say thanks a million I ordered my Wii on Monday and received it today, I am so happy Thanks
November 8th, 2007 at 7:55 pm

Anne that is good news !! Sounds like it is on its way
November 8th, 2007 at 9:42 pm
Hi. A big thank you for helping get a Wii. Saw this on Monday night - placed order that evening and Wii delivered Thursday by DHL. Delivery man even had a joke with me.
All docs are in English and machine plays PAL games(same as you buy here - and just in case youre asking games are in english). The plug is a 2 pin euro plug so you either need an adapter £3 or you can but UK power suppy which has 3 pin plug. Simple and no fuss. So balls to the ebay ripoff merchants.
November 8th, 2007 at 9:48 pm
Just ordered one today 08/11 for the kids, Amazon Germany says it should be here by the 20/11. I had previously heard Germany had a few but was a bit unsure about ordering abroad. With your very useful and detailed guide I bit the bullet. Assuming it arrives ok then a beer is on the way. Will let you know how I get on, when it arrives ect.
November 8th, 2007 at 10:04 pm
One more success!! Ordered Monday, arrived today, no problems.
November 8th, 2007 at 10:08 pm
Pheww thanks Muz! Can’t believe how easy it’s all been! Thanks Heather, fingers crossed. This is turning into one of the friendliest ‘chat’ rooms i’ve been on : )
November 8th, 2007 at 10:10 pm
Hi, I have been looking at this site for a few days now and by the looks of it, I could have had a wii by now if I had ordered straight away!! Oh well, I have ordered one now. Cant wait - Sod the kids. I’m more excited.
Thanks for all the advice - Great Site!!
November 8th, 2007 at 11:06 pm
Hi, thank you so much .
I have been looking for weeks for a wii for my little boy, and i have just bought one from this site and it will be delivered between the 12th-20th nov.
You wouldnt believe the relief i am in just know.
I really thought i wouldn’t get one from anywhere, or i would be paying nearly £300 for one.
It was so easy thanks to your guide,
You are a life saver, and you have made a little boys christmas, big time.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
November 8th, 2007 at 11:38 pm
Great to hear people are still finding the guide useful despite the lack of links! Keep posting those messages people.
November 9th, 2007 at 8:17 am
HI,
I noticed a lot of people who order on monday got theirs Thursday.
I ordered mine on wednesday but says it will be delivered between 22nd - 26th of November. Is this normal and do they ever come earlier. Do yhey send you an email to let you know they have been dispatched.
Great site, came in very handy.
Darren
November 9th, 2007 at 8:22 am
Darren, I get the impression that most people are getting their console early. And yes I believe you do get an email upon despatch.
November 9th, 2007 at 11:16 am
Just tried to order from both Germany and France. It appears there is no Amazon stock in Germany, only showing used Wii’s or sourced from other suppliers at higher prices. France refuses to send to a UK address. Anyone had success today, let me know. Ideally with some link or reference
November 9th, 2007 at 11:29 am
Ordered mine on Monday. If you login to amazon.de and login too your account you will see an earlier date than mentioned in the email. mine is comming on the 12th. Thanks for the great guide.
November 9th, 2007 at 11:59 am
John, that’s terrible news!!
- I guess fingers crossed they will come back into stock again.
I had one report from someone on the other page that they successfully ordered a Wii from Amazon France. Did you follow the guide there?
http://www.instockwii.co.uk/click-here-to-order-from-amazon-france/
Otherwise it looks like we might need to start looking elsewhere … damnit.
November 9th, 2007 at 12:17 pm
John & all, I just tried placing an order myself through Amazon France and it does indeed say that they won’t deliver to the UK.
I think this whole thing is ridiculous. I’m going to see if I can find some alternatives to Amazon because they are pissing me off!
November 9th, 2007 at 12:43 pm
Bad luck Peter, i personally think the French are still sulking over the rugby world cup! : )
November 9th, 2007 at 2:47 pm
My Wii arrived today from Germany
November 9th, 2007 at 3:34 pm
Is a wii bought in France compatible, in a sea port cash and carry?
Thanks,
Paul
November 9th, 2007 at 3:37 pm
I ordered mine last night from Germany & got an email this morning saying that it has been dispatched & should be delivered on 12 November. Fingers crossed but so far everything seems to be fine. Many thanks, this will make my 10 year old son (& his parents!) very happy.
November 9th, 2007 at 4:02 pm
Freind of mine just attempted ordering one from Germany. Seems they have also stopped shipping to UK. Can someone confirm this?
November 9th, 2007 at 5:05 pm
Yes its true both French and German sites are not shipping to uk.
boo.hoo.
November 9th, 2007 at 5:15 pm
Just tried ordering one from amazon.de, and they say :
*** Dieser Artikel kann leider nicht an den von Ihnen gewünschten Ort versandt werden. Sie können entweder die Versandadresse ändern oder den Artikel aus Ihrer Bestellung löschen, indem Sie die Stückzahl auf 0 setzen und anschließend auf “Aktualisieren” klicken. ( Länder mit Versandbeschränkungen) ***
which loosely translates as ” we dont want to sell this to you because you are english” or something similar.
They say they will only deliver electronics to germany or austria.
November 9th, 2007 at 5:23 pm
Ordered on on Tuesday 6 Nov and it has just arrived today 9 Nov 07. Thank you very much for this guide. You have made many parents very very happy.
November 9th, 2007 at 7:49 pm
ordered a wii on the 8th, had an email sent couldnt understand it but think it means delivery between 12th and 20th, great site, when i went on amazon de. on the 8th it looked as tho there was only 16 left in stock. beer on the way if it comes!! dont stop trying everyone will get one im sure.
November 9th, 2007 at 9:01 pm
I, too, have tried to order from amazon.de (as has a close fried).
We have both had the same response that they are not shipping to the UK.
I don’t understand why they won’t do it anymore….but there you are!
Any suggestions?
November 10th, 2007 at 9:14 am
Ordered from German amazon.de on 7 November and its showing it was dispatched 8 November.
Those having problems with their credit cards - log onto the amazon.co.uk site and save your card details in there - then they will automatically work on the german site when you log in. It WON’T accept Debit Cards.
Also - DON’T cut the power cable to put on your own UK plug, this WILL invalidate your warranty. You can buy a euro plug adaptor from Maplin for £3 - You open it up and slot the entire german plug into it. The item code is MW44x http://www.maplin.co.uk/Search.aspx?criteria=mw44x&source=15&SD=Y
The German wiii comes bundled with Wii Sports games - BUT - the instruction booklet for the wii sports comes in German. So go here http://www.nintendo.com/consumer/manuals/#game and scroll down to the light blue area for Wii Sports and click on English on the right - it will open as a pdf ( Adobe ) document - and you can print off the Wii Sports manual.
And remember to register your new Wii on the UK Nintendo website to get a further 90 days on your warranty
Hope all this info is a help to anyone.
November 10th, 2007 at 9:20 am
Gizmo that’s great, thanks. However it looks like Amazon have put a block on this by restricting delivery. I mean seriously, it seems almost childish “It’s mine, you Brits can’t have it - wahhhh”.
For anyone brave enough, there are other electronic retailers in Germany with stock. Try google.de and search for wii console - you’ll see several advertisers. I am investigating whether or not they deliver to the UK and whether they are reputable. If I find good news I’ll post the details.
November 10th, 2007 at 10:46 am
I often shop with Amazon international sites. The layout is always basically the same.
I’ve placed an order this morning without a hitch- suprised then that some people were told yesterday no UK orders. I suggest you try again.
Good luck one and all.
November 10th, 2007 at 11:04 am
Alright, I don’t know exactly what is going on but I also just managed to place an order on Amazon Germany! It seems that they have stock again and do deliver to the UK. My despatch date is Monday.
So to anyone else that tried earlier, try again! I did get the message first time I tried, but then I realised I had two Wiis in my cart and one was from the marketplace. After removing that, leaving just the new Amazon one, it was fine.
I have spent all morning investigating other German sites and from what I can tell, none deliver to the UK or require non-credit card payment (sending a money order I think, which is a bit bizzare!) for non-German purchases.
Again, good luck one and all.
November 10th, 2007 at 11:44 am
After yesterdays disappointment todays joy. I have just managed to place my order through Germany, delivery quoted 3rd to 17th December. Point to note to ensure you select from Amazon de and not marketplace second hand (Gebraucht:). I used google translate to help.
http://translate.google.com/translate_t?langpair=de|en
Maybe Amazon realises its unfair practice to restrict sales to the UK after all it is a common market.
November 10th, 2007 at 11:56 am
Great to hear, John!
November 10th, 2007 at 1:01 pm
Just ordered 1pm Saturday 10th and thanks to this site, as easy as pie.
According to the translator, ,y email message states:
Prospective dispatch of these articles: 12th of November, 2007
So not sure why guy a few messages above is suggesting December?
Many thanks.
November 10th, 2007 at 1:09 pm
Andrew, I think that’s when people add extras. I’d recommend getting your accessories and games from Amazon UK. You can see some of them here:
http://astore.amazon.co.uk/instockwii-21
November 10th, 2007 at 1:46 pm
Ordered mine on the 5th november, was told it would be dispatched on the 12th - It arrived on the 8th!! and only cost £176 including DHL. Great idea, well done.
November 10th, 2007 at 3:57 pm
Hi, big thanks for telling me about Amazon Germany. Followed your instructions and ordered my wii on Tuesday 6/11/07. Was given delivery dates bet 16-21/11/07. Then got an email on Thursaday stating it would be with me on Monday 14/11/2007. But to my delight came home from work Friday 09/11/07 and my wii was there waiting for me, brilliant! Talk about German efficiency. Can’t believe its cheaper (£176.40) than anywhere in the UK. Hope everyone who is thinking of ordering has the same success as myself, cheers!
November 10th, 2007 at 5:41 pm
hi their
ordered one got e-mail back say’s something about the 12th november but no arrival date
Voraussichtlicher Versand dieser Artikel: 12 November 2007

November 10th, 2007 at 5:52 pm
Charlie, I got the same message when placing an order today. That means it will be despatched on Monday, so should be with you a few days later.
November 10th, 2007 at 5:55 pm
Message to Peter…
I’m a novice and have purchased one for the kids (5 and 9).
Will it come equipped for one player only? What accessories/additional games will I need above and beyond? Any advice gratefully received.
November 10th, 2007 at 6:39 pm
Just ordered from Germany, tried and failed to get delivery to one of my preset amazon delivery addresses in Ireland. Lots of shouty looking red writing appeared, the Germans do like long words! Tried sending to my home address in Blighty and no problems.
Is there a problem with deliveries to Ireland?
November 10th, 2007 at 6:42 pm
Big, Big Thumbs up mate.
Have placed my order today - will be dispatched on the 12th November.
If it all comes good I’ll sort you out a nice phat pint.
Good work fella!
November 10th, 2007 at 9:29 pm
Please help. I’ve ordered from Amazon.de tonight (link from different site) but made the mistake of adding Wii play and now have date of upto 29th Dec !!!! How can i amend the order to send them independantly or cancel the wii play?
November 10th, 2007 at 10:39 pm
Thanks mate… much appreciated… Saturday night and I just bought the bundle from Amazon.de… no problems at all….
Amazing thing is that it’s supposed to be getting delivered on Monday!!!!!!!!!
(hmm could Amazon UK be stock piling???)
November 11th, 2007 at 12:26 am
Had given up on Germany on Friday, but tried again today, thanks to your correspondence and it was as easy as pie.
Thank you Father Christmas ! I DO believe !!
November 11th, 2007 at 12:50 am
Hi all, just wanted to say thanks, I have sat at my computer and phone for days (you can tell from the time on this post how bad it’s been), order placed with gGerman Amazon and due for dispatch on 12th Nov. And Emma I read your post if you scroll up someone had the same problem and went back into their account and separated the packages to result in an earlier wii delivery, hope that helps.
November 11th, 2007 at 7:35 am
I have just sucessfully placed an order on German Amazon, email says delivery between 3rd-17th Dec, (prob cos I ordered some other bits as well)
That will do me nicely (so long as it turns up:)
1 Hoegaarden coming up sometime in Dec for you all being well.
Cheers for the info.
November 11th, 2007 at 8:00 am
Spent ages last night with altavista translate page (as suggested by Mike above, thanks) and finally discovered how to separate the order, so Wii should be here next week. YIPEE!!
Just a word of advice, get your accessories from the UK to avoid disappointment!! I nearly died when Wii play delayed my order to the 29th of Dec!!!
November 11th, 2007 at 8:52 am
Emma that’s fantastic, so glad you got is sorted! I agree that you should definitely get your accessories from the UK, most are in stock at Amazon UK it seems (see the store link at the top of this page).
Everyone else, really glad you all found this useful, and I’m really happy that people are still finding this site and using the guide. To think I considered taking it down when I had that ‘threatening’ email from Amazon =0)
November 11th, 2007 at 9:43 am
Thanks for this, have ordered mine last night and should be dispatched on Monday
Beats ringing around all the shops and the other websites that tell you when stock is available at inflated prices!!!
November 11th, 2007 at 9:50 am
Yes…. Great work. Have ordered today and will post when received….
Thanks to all
